What Is Pine Pollen?

Pine pollen, also called pinus pollen, is golden-brown powder produced from more than 100 species of pine trees. Its primary function is to fertilize the female reproductive organs of the plant, initiating the life cycle of a new pine tree. Pine pollen is extracted and marketed commercially for use in traditional medicine and to form pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.

General Description
​
The term "pollen" refers to the male reproductive parts (or microspores) of seed-producing plants. The internal structure of male pine cones, or microstrobilus, is made up of an axis that bears microsporangia, or pollen bearing sacs. Each pollen grain is a four-celled structure that is easily dispersed by the wind till it comes in contact with a female cone for pollination.
